Ione Skye ‘Can’t Even Listen to a Beastie Boys Song’ 25 Years After Her Divorce From Adam Horovitz

Ione Skye is giving fans a peek behind the curtain in her new memoir, fittingly titled Say Everything, as the Say Anything star delves into the rollercoaster of Hollywood life.

At one point in the memoir, she opens up about her divorce from the Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz, whom she tied the knot with in 1992 at age 21. The marriage lasted seven years before Skye’s affairs with women led to a divorce in 2000. “I discovered writing this book, it was very clear that I’m not good with grief. I’m not good with loss at all,” she writes in the book of her difficulty dealing with the split to this day, per CBS News. “I still find it painful. I can’t even listen to a Beastie Boys song. It feels like a death to me.”

Skye also discusses her relationship with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis, whom she began dating when she was 16 years old and he was 24. “I liked the idea of this dangerous dark prince of a rock n’ roller,” she wrote of her mindset at the time, adding, “It shocks me. And I also feel bad for myself. I’m happy I knew Anthony Kiedis and [the band’s bassist] Flea, but I wish I’d met them ten years later and never dated them.”

The actress currently lives in Australia with her husband, Ben Lee, and their daughter, Goldie Priya Lee.
