Ye — formerly Kanye West — hosted a Grammy Awards afterparty in Los Angeles on Sunday (Feb. 2), where he premiered his upcoming The Download interview with Justin Laboy.
The rapper reflected on competing with Drake over the years, and while he recognized the 6 God was down following his battle with Kendrick Lamar, West doesn’t think Drizzy’s out of the game for good.
“It was really challenging for me to make ‘Father Stretch My Hands’ and different things, and this man got ‘Work’ a top five song ever created in life and we doing the drums bringing Metro [Boomin] on,” Ye said before Laboy cut him off.

“So Kendrick killed Drake — he’s dead,” Laboy proclaimed. Ye agreed for the time being, but doesn’t think it’s for good.
“Yeah, for now,” the rapper responded. “You can’t ever count out Steph Curry. That man might get 200 points in one song.”
West credited his frenemy Drake with adding “something to the algorithm to our frequency. He advanced us. Future advanced us and now Kendrick advanced the frequency.”
The Chicago native also showed love to Kendrick Lamar on Instagram following his five Grammy Award victories, including song of the year and record of the year for “Not Like Us” Sunday. “Gemini Season,” Ye wrote about his “No More Parties in L.A.” collaborator in since-deleted post.
Ab-Soul, a close affiliate of Kendrick Lamar and TDE rapper, also believes Drake has a shot at redemption to get his career back in the win column. “If Drake is the MC I imagine he can be. Redemption is not off the table,” he wrote to X over the summer.
In other Ye news, the rapper provided an update on the release of his upcoming Bully album at the afterparty. The solo LP — which will be his first since 2021’s Donda — is now expected to arrive on North West’s 12th birthday on June 15.
