Flatts’ Gary LeVox launches the first verse of the song that dropped on Friday morning (Jan. 31), opening a lyrical arc of someone dreaming of a lifetime of love with the one he adores, before realizing that they’re holding back. LeVox is soon joined by his Flatts bandmates, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus, bringing in their signature pristine harmonies to the country-leaning pop track.

The Jonas Brothers helm the second verse, as the song builds into a spotlight for both groups’ vivid harmonies, conveying both hopefulness and determination as the song’s protagonist aims to convince a significant other to overcome past heartbreak to give love another shot.

“I Dare You” was written by the Jonas Brothers’ Nick Jonas, along with Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney and co-writers Dewain Whitmore Jr. and Tommy English.

“We’re so excited to kick off this next chapter of Rascal Flatts with this single, working with Kevin, Joe and Nick is such a blast, they’re class acts,” Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus said in a statement. “I think this song fits perfectly into our catalogue while also showing off something new and exciting, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans on the road!”

As Rascal Flatts releases this new music, they are also gearing up for their 25th anniversary Life Is a Highway Tour, which launches in February and features openers Lauren Alaina and Chris Lane.
