Travis Kelce Jokes About Knowing ‘A Few’ People Who Dig Friendship Bracelets on ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity’

If this whole football thing doesn’t work out, Travis Kelce has proven he has a viable second option in the game show world. Unlike the smash mouth, pound the pigskin skills he needs on the field as a tight end for the Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs, being the host of Amazon Prime’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity requires precision comedic timing and the kind of easy charm that doesn’t always translate from under a helmet.

Trav proves it again on Wednesday’s (Jan. 29) episode of the quiz show, when he deftly navigates a question clearly inspired by his love story with Taylor Swift. In the 18th episode of the show’s current season, the baller whose team is hoping to become the first NFL squad to win three Super Bowls in a row at the big game on Feb. 9 doesn’t flinch while reading a question about friendship bracelets.

“Nicole has 98 beads to make 6 friendship bracelets. If each bracelet has an equal number of beads, what is the fewest number of leftover beads she can have?” Kelce asks the celebrity panel as the audience busts out laughing at the mention of the signature accessory from Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which were inspired by a line from her Midnights track “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

“What’s so funny guys?” Kelce wonders as comedian Nicole Byer feigns agita and quips, “they’re laughing that I have six friends!” The subtle ribbing continues when Lala Kent wonders, “Travis, do you know anyone who likes friendship bracelets and things like that?”

Without missing a beat, Kelce responds without directly mentioning his biggest, most famous athletic supporter. “I know a few. Might have converted em’ to a Chiefs fan, but I don’t know. We’ll see.”

Swift has become a regular at Chiefs games — including their AFC Championship victory over rivals the Buffalo Bills last weekend — and is likely to be on hand in New Orleans on Feb. 9 when KC takes on the Philadelphia Eagles. You might recall that the couple began their romance after Kelce revealed on his New Heights podcast in July 2023 that he had tried, and failed, to meet Swift at an Eras show in Kansas City by making a friendship bracelet with his number on it.

Though that trick didn’t work, by September of that year they began dating and have been a couple ever since.
