Sheila E., Patrice Rushen and More Musicians to Be Honored During 2025 NAMM Show

Roland, Drum Workshop and BOSS will present lifetime achievement awards to English musician Gary Numan, drummers Jim Keltner, Patrice Rushen and Sheila E., and guitarist Steve Stevens during The NAMM Show on Thursday (Jan. 23) at 11 a.m. in Anaheim, Calif.

Roland will honor Numan and Keltner with Roland Lifetime Achievement Awards. These awards recognize individuals for their contributions to the music industry while using Roland gear throughout their careers.

Meanwhile, Roland and Drum Workshop will present Lifetime Achievement Awards to Rushen and Sheila E. These awards recognize individuals for their contributions while using Roland and Drum Workshop gear throughout their careers.

Roland introduced its annual Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2016. Previous honorees include Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Thomas Dolby, Jean-Michel Jarre, DJ Pierre, Omar Hakim and Nick Rhodes.

Guitarist Steve Stevens will be the BOSS 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. The Roland and BOSS Lifetime Achievement Awards recognize individuals for their contributions while using BOSS gear throughout their careers. Previous honorees include Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Andy Summers, Steve Vai, Danny Kortchmar, Yngwie Malmsteen and Johnny Marr.

Numan and Sheila E. have each landed top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 as artists, with “Cars” (1980) and “The Glamorous Life” (1984), respectively. In collaboration with Harold Faltermeyer, Stevens won a Grammy in 1987 for best pop instrumental performance (orchestra, group or soloist) for “Top Gun Anthem” from the Billboard 200-topping Top Gun soundtrack. Keltner, Rushen and Sheila E have received a combined 10 Grammy nods (but no wins as yet) between them. Numan has yet to be nominated.
