Wilkommen, bienvenue, howdy partner! Country star Orville Peck is set to make his Broadway debut as the Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.

On Wednesday (Jan. 15), Cabaret announced that the “Dead of Night” singer would take over the iconic role from Adam Lambert starting on March 31, where he will be joined by two-time Tony nominee Eva Noblezada, who will take over the role of Sally Bowles from Moana star Auli’i Cravalho.

In a statement released with the news, Peck shared his excitement at making his Broadway debut as the Emcee. “I truly cannot believe I’m getting to make my Broadway debut in one of my favorite shows and in probably my favorite role in all of musical theater,” the singer said. “The Emcee has been my dream role since I was a teenager. The nature of the character allows for complete freedom of individual expression. It can be portrayed through such a vast range of emotions, perspectives, and performance styles. That kind of freedom is every actor’s dream.”

Fans may not know that before he became known as the queer, masked desperado making a sizable impact in the country music industry, Peck worked as a trained actor. Studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Peck previously performed in the Olivier Award-nominated West End play Peter Pan Goes Wrong.

Cabaret director Rebecca Frecknell shared her own thoughts on Peck’s casting, saying that she was thrilled to bring another “contemporary musician” to the role after working with Lambert. “Orville brings such theatricality to his own musical performance and has one of the most crystalline voices in music right now,” she said in a statement. “It’s going to be exciting to see him become a part of our production and hear him sing John Kander and Fred Ebb’s score.”

Peck and Noblezada will debut in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club on Monday, March 31. Tickets are currently available on the production’s website.
