Sir Elton John is still shining bright on the U.K.’s Albums Chart as his greatest hits collection Diamonds has finally hit No. 1 in its 374th week on the chart (Jan 10).

The icon’s career-spanning collection was first released in 2017 and features a number of his biggest hits, including “Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Rocket Man,” “Candle In The Wind,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and more. Following the release of limited edition collection across physical formats – including cassette for the first time – the compilation has surged to the top to dethrone Ed Sheeran at No. 1

Upon release, Diamonds reached No. 5 and peaked at No. 2 following John’s Glastonbury headline set in June 2023. The Official Charts Company reports that it hasn’t left the top 100 since its release and has spent more weeks on the chart than any of John’s other LPs.

The new achievement gives Sir Elton his ninth chart-topper in the U.K., joining Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player (1973), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973), Caribou (1974), Elton John’s Greatest Hits (1974), Sleeping With The Past (1989), The Very Best Of Elton John (1990), Good Morning To The Night (2012) and The Lockdown Sessions (2021).

Elsewhere in the top five, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet is a non-mover at No. 2, while SZA’s expanded SOS Deluxe: LANA holds strong at No. 3. Sheeran’s +–=÷× (Tour Collection) drops to No. 4 and The Weeknd’s The Highlights compilation finishes the week at No. 5.

This week’s highest new entry entry comes from rap star Lil Baby, who notches his fifth top 40 with his fourth studio album WHAM which completes the week at No. 12.
