Britney Spears has left Los Angeles amid the city’s ongoing wildfire crisis, the singer revealed on Instagram Thursday (Jan. 9).
“I hope you are all doing OK !!!” she wrote, sharing a video of a doll wearing beaded pink heels. “I had to evacuate my home and I’m driving 4 hours to a hotel !!! I’m posting these adorable shoes to lift people’s spirits !!!”
“Most people may not even be on their phones !!!” the “Toxic” singer added. “I wasn’t the past two days because I had no electricity to charge and I just got my phone back !!! I pray you’re all doing well and I send my love 🌹 !!!”
Spears is just one of several celebrities — and tens of thousands of other California residents — who has had to flee the L.A. area since wind-fueled fires first broke out in Pacific Palisades Tuesday morning (Jan. 7), quickly traveling across the city faster than first responders could put out the flames. More blazes have since broken out in areas affecting the Hollywood Hills, Pasadena, Altadena, Sylmar and Calabasas, with at least 10 people reported dead so far, according to CNN.
Countless structures have also burned down as the fires have now spread through a combined 36,365 acres, the outlet reports. Among them were homes owned by stars including Tina Knowles, Brad Paisley, Mandy Moore and Jhené Aiko, each of whom has posted about the loss of their properties this week.
“Just behind the immeasurable loss of life is the loss of the proof of life,” wrote John Mayer in a recent heartfelt post about the widespread damage to people’s homes. “I don’t practice prayer but tonight I will say one for everyone who no longer has these items. It’s not about the art and the collectibles. It’s the photos, the letters, the class rings, the eyeglasses and the things we keep to remind us that those we loved were here. May those who have lost so much find some semblance of hope and support from their family and friends.”
