Dua Lipa Turned Her One-Night-Only Royal Albert Hall Show Into a Live Album

While her October performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall was a one-night-only affair, Dua Lipa wants to make sure that her performance doesn’t go “Houdini.”

On Tuesday (Nov. 19), the pop star announced the release date for her first-ever live album, Dua Lipa Live From The Royal Albert Hall. Recorded during her Oct. 17 performance at the iconic venue and releasing on Friday, Dec. 6, the new LP features Lipa singing through the entirety of her latest album, Radical Optimism, with a number of her biggest hits sprinkled in for good measure.

In a statement, Lipa shared that her performance at the legendary hall was “unlike anything I’ve ever done,” and that she wanted to have a permanent record of the show. “For the longest time, I’ve had this idea to reimagine my music with an orchestra, and when I was making Radical Optimism, I was constantly thinking about the live element and how these songs would transform on stage, so when The Royal Albert Hall show came up, it presented itself as the perfect opportunity to not only reconstruct these songs, but also celebrate them in such a beautiful and intimate way,” she said. “The experience was entirely thrilling and equally rewarding.”

The live album will be released just days before Lipa’s primetime concert special filmed at The Royal Albert Hall — An Evening With Dua Lipa will air on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, Dec. 15.
