Lipa becomes the fourth celebrity to receive the Trevor Project’s award, preceded by past winners Lil Nas X (2021), Janelle Monáe (2022) and Dylan Mulvaney (2023). In a statement, the Trevor Project’s CEO Jaymes Black added that the “Training Season” singer “sets an excellent example for how allies can use their platforms to amplify the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.”
In its recently published 2024 U.S. National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People, the Trevor Project found that 46% of transgender and nonbinary youth and 39% of queer youth seriously contemplated suicide over the last year. To help raise funds for the organization’s services, Lipa will also be hosting a digital fundraiser across her socials.
