The single, released Oct. 18, arrives as Wallen’s third Hot 100 leader, after Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Wallen, opened on top in May and reigned for six weeks, and “Last Night” dominated for 16 weeks in 2023.
Notably, Wallen maintains the longest Hot 100 reign of the 2020s with “Last Night” – his new No. 1 dethrones Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which a week earlier tallied its 15th week in the top spot (and remains tied with Harry Styles’ 2022 hit “As It Was” for the second-longest command this decade).
“Love Somebody,” on Mercury/Big Loud/Republic, becomes the 1,175th No. 1 in the Hot 100’s 66-year history, and the first to debut atop the chart since “I Had Some Help.”
“‘Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” Wallen shared in a statement upon the release of the longing love song, which he co-wrote. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about … how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”
Plus, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars soar onto the Hot 100 at No. 8 with “APT.” BLACKPINK member ROSÉ earns her first top 10 as a soloist, outpacing the group’s No. 13 best set by “Ice Cream,” with Selena Gomez, in 2012. She also makes history as the first female artist prominent in K-pop (Korean pop) to hit the top 10. Mars, meanwhile, adds his milestone 20th Hot 100 top 10.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Nov. 2, 2024) will update on Billboard.com Tuesday, Oct. 29). For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

‘Love Somebody’ Streams, Airplay & Sales
“Love Somebody” arrives with 31.1 million official streams , 15.2 million radio airplay audience impressions and 17,000 sold in the United States Oct. 18-24.
The track concurrently debuts at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, where it’s Wallen’s third No. 1, and Digital Song Sales, where he adds his seventh leader. It begins at No. 42 on Radio Songs, as well as No. 13 on Country Airplay, marking his highest career entrance on the latter list.
Wallen initially previewed the song on TikTok in May and performed it during the European leg of his One Night at a Time Tour. Following the original single’s proper release Oct. 18, a live version was posted to Wallen’s official YouTube account Oct. 24.
No. 1 on Hot 100 & Hot Country Songs
“Love Somebody” concurrently debuts as Wallen’s ninth leader, and record-extending sixth to debut at No. 1, on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart.
It’s the 29th hit to have topped both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs, dating to 1958, when the former originated and the latter became the country genre’s singular Billboard chart. It’s the fourth such song of 2024, after four also topped the Hot 100 in 2023, the most in a year since 1975; it’s the ninth this decade, after only two led over the previous 36 years.
Plus, Wallen adds his record-breaking third shared Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs No. 1. He surpasses Glen Campbell, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Taylor Swift, each with two.
Not Just Anybody at No. 1
The word “love” is a regular visitor to No. 1 via Hot 100 song titles, a tradition that began with “To Know Him, Is to Love Him” by The Teddy Bears in 1958.
“Somebody” is rarer in the name of Hot 100 No. 1s, with Wallen’s new leader just the sixth. Here’s a look at everybody who’s earned the honor:
“Love Somebody,” Morgan Wallen, 2024
“Somebody That I Used to Know,” Gotye feat. Kimbra, 2012
Busy “body”s: Wallen logs the third Hot 100 top 10 titled “Love Somebody.” Rick Springfield took his composition by that name to No. 5 in 1984, followed by Maroon 5’s No. 10 hit in 2013.
‘APT.’ Moves Into Top 10
ROSÉ and Bruno Mars roar onto the Hot 100 at No. 8 with “APT.” Released Oct. 18, the duet debuts with 25 million streams, 3.2 million in airplay audience and 14,000 sold in the U.S.
BLACKPINK member ROSÉ spent one prior week on the Hot 100 as a soloist, when “On the Ground” charted at No. 70 for a week in March 2021. It topped both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts upon its debut.
ROSÉ becomes the latest act that primarily records K-pop – and the first woman – to have hit the Hot 100’s top 10. She joins BTS (10 top 10s); BTS members Jung Kook (three) and Jimin (one) as soloists; and PSY (two).
“APT.” introduces ROSÉ’s solo studio album, rosie, due Dec. 6.
Mars, meanwhile, claims his 20th Hot 100 top 10 with “APT.,” becoming the 25th act with 20 or more top 10s. (Drake boasts a record 78.) Having scored his first top 10 in 2010, Mars is one of only seven artists to reach the milestone since then:
76 top 10s over the 2010s & ‘20s, Drake
54, Taylor Swift
26, Justin Bieber
22, Nicki Minaj
21, Ariana Grande
20, Bruno Mars
20, Rihanna
Rest of the Top 10: ‘Tipsy’ & More
Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” dips to No. 2. It holds for a 13th week at No. 1 on Radio Songs (72.2 million, down 2% week-over-week).
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” descends to No. 5 from its No. 3 best, while her “Taste” falls 8-9, after it debuted at its No. 2 peak.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” repeats at No. 4 on the Hot 100 after hitting No. 3. With Mars also at No. 8 with “APT.,” he charts two top 10s simultaneously for the first time since March 23, 2013, when “When I Was Your Man” ranked at No. 3 and “Locked Out of Heaven” was No. 10.
Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Wallen, backtracks 5-6 on the Hot 100, following six weeks at No. 1 beginning upon its debut in May.
Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March, slides 6-7 – and ties for the third-most weeks spent in the top 10 all-time:
57 weeks, “Blinding Lights,” The Weeknd, 2020-21
44, “Stay,” The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber, 2021-22
41, “Lose Control,” Teddy Swims, 2024
41, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023-24
41, “Levitating,” Dua Lipa, 2021
Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Benson Boone’s No. 2-peaking “Beautiful Things” descends 9-10.
