Ozzy Osbourne Pays Tribute to Beloved Dog Rocky: ‘I’ll See You on the Other Side My Friend’

The heavy metal Prince of Darkness is just an old softie after all. While he’s made a reputation for singing dark songs about dark subjects for more than half a century, deep down Ozzy Osbourne is a sweet-hearted mushball. Especially when it comes to his beloved fur baby Rocky.

The hard rock icon had a heavy heart this week as he announced the death of his 15-year-old best pal Pomeranian. “Two days ago I lost my good friend Rocky who has been at my side for 15 years,” Osbourne tweeted on Thursday (August 22) alongside a pic of the adorable little guy snuggled in his arms. “I’ll see you on the other side my friend. I love you always.”

Osbourne’s Insta post about the sad news drew touching messages of support from Barbaranne Wylde, wife of Ozzy’s longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, who wrote, “Oh Sweet Boy Rocky. So Sorry @ozzyosbourne Love You.” Peta also weighed in, writing, “We are so deeply sorry for your loss of sweet Rocky. May your 15 years of special memories and adventures together bring you comfort through the pain. Sending love from all of us at PETA.”

Other friends offering their condolences included actor Danny Trejo, Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson and Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio, sister of Ozzy’s beloved late pal and co-songwriter, guitarist Randy Rhoads.

Osbourne, 75, who has been laid low by a series of health issues over the past few years that have prevented him from touring and performing live, is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on Oct. 19 in Cleveland. Though he isn’t likely to perform for his second induction — Black Sabbath was enshrined in 2006 — he said in a recent statement that he plans to attend the ceremony.

“I’m really looking forward to attending the induction ceremony in Cleveland this October,” Ozzy said. “More importantly, I am so blessed to have had such an incredible career with amazing fans who have stuck by me through thick and thin over the years.”
