Big Sean originally teased a clip of this song and video on social media last month, and it’s finally here: Sean and The Alchemist released “Together Forever” on Friday (Aug. 16). Fans were especially excited to hear the Detroit rapper over Alchemist production and were stoked to see the legendary producer supporting Sean in the video.

Directed by KittyNineGuns, Sean raps in a grassy field with The Alchemist getting stoned and vibing out in the background. Alan provides a beat that’s smoother than silk, and Big Sean does it justice as he addresses the ups and downs he’s been through over the years. “I got a talent for turnin’ whatever life throw at me into a blessing/ I love your company, but I rather be my myself than to fake a connection,” he raps.

Trending on Billboard

Although a version of his upcoming album Better Me Than You leaked in July, the next day, Sean announced a release date of Aug. 9. However, scheduling issues forced him to delay the album a few weeks, telling a fan on social media, “I gotta push it just a lil’ bit. Music done, but just organizing listening events, shows etc. Might need an extra week or 2 to plan.”

Some fans speculated that his former label boss Ye was behind the leak, but Sean quickly squashed those rumors. “I know he ain’t do that sh–. I love Ye. Without him, there would be no me,” he told fans on Instagram Live. Adding, “I been there since Graduation. I got to study, contribute, give energy to every project. 808sBeautiful Twisted… I know he wouldn’t do that, that’s trash. So whoever did do that, just know it did f— me up.”

Also, there’s an easter egg at the end of the video featuring a snippet of a song with a darker tone that Alchemist also produced. Maybe we’ll be getting both songs on the upcoming project.

While there isn’t a firm release date yet, you can still presave the Detroit rapper’s first album since 2020 here.
