Fuerza Regida continue to make significant waves in the industry with their most recent album, Pero No Te Enamores, an audacious genre fusion that has captivated a diverse audience and propelled them up the Billboard charts.
Billboard Explains traces the Mexican American band’s ascent from their first chart appearance — when Radicamos in South Central debuted at No. 35 on Regional Mexican Airplay in August 2018 — leading up to their latest album.
Notably, Pero No Te Enamores landed at No. 2 on the Top Latin Albums chart and secured a commendable No. 23 position on the Billboard 200 on the Aug. 10-dated list. This achievement shines even brighter considering the San Bernardino band’s foray into uncharted musical territory, creating a novel subgenre they coined “Jersey corridos.”
“When I first heard [Jersey club] about one to two years ago, I loved it. I was like, ‘Man, I wanna do something with it.’ I just didn’t know how. But I knew that when I did, they were gonna talk sh–,” frontman JOP told Billboard Español. “So when it got to the point to make a new album, I was like, ‘I wanna do Jerseys and dance music, I want to move something different but still keep the original Fuerza Regida [corridos essence] with the guitars.”
One of their career highlights was the release of “Bebe Dame” featuring Grupo Frontera, which soared to the top of the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Their 2023 corridos-heavy album Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada not only snagged their first No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart, but also reached No. 14 on the all-genre Billboard 200.
As Fuerza Regida continues to chart new paths and experiment with sounds, their journey remains a pivotal story in the evolution of Latin music on the global charts.
