With breakdancing making its debut as an Olympic competition in Paris, it’s only right that Snoop Dogg hit the stage to kick off the festivities on Friday (Aug. 9).
The Doggfather donned a red, white and blue tracksuit while his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot” boomed throughout the venue in Place de la Concorde.
Snoop hit a few dance moves as the crowd cheered him on before smacking the floor with the wooden baton. Friday marked the start of the women’s knockout competition with B-Girls looking to secure the first gold medal in the category.

Team USA’s Sunny Choi and Logan Edra went head-to-head with dancers from France, Ukraine, Japan, Lithuania, the Netherlands and more.
The men’s breakdancing contest will go down in Paris on Saturday (Aug. 10). Unfortunately, breaking isn’t on the docket for the 2028 Summer Olympics when it comes to Los Angeles.
Snoop Dogg has been a breath of fresh air and a star at the 2024 Olympics. From serving as the torchbearer for the U.S. to swimming with Michael Phelps and paying a visit to the Louvre, he’s done it all during his few weeks in Paris.
The 52-year-old isn’t taking the opportunity for granted as he hopes his success as a correspondent will inspire NBC to continue thinking outside the box when it comes to Olympic coverage in the future.
“This opportunity wasn’t nothing but a chance for me to show the world what it’s supposed to look like when you put the right person in the right environment,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “Sports, entertainment, the globe — this is what I do. I do it every day. I want to give a shout-out to all of the executives, because the first thing they did was tell me to be me.”
