Megan Moroney Finally Addresses Morgan Wallen Romance Rumors: ‘We Were Not Just Friends’

Megan Moroney is clearing the air about the longtime rumors that she dated Morgan Wallen.

The country star is the latest guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where host Alex Cooper directly asked her if she dated the “Last Night” singer. “Never exclusively,” Moroney replied. “I have tried to avoid that in every single interview I’ve ever done. But we’re here now and time has passed and all is well.”

While she declined to confirm if her hit “Tennessee Orange,” is about Volunteers fan Wallen as speculated, she explained that she met the star right before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 while she was a senior in college. “We were friends for a long time. We were not just friends. And now we’re friends,” she explained. “I feel like he’s a very private person. We weren’t exclusively dating ever and I think that both of our schedules… when we tried to hangout it was like, ‘OK, we have this one day of the whole month where we’re both maybe in town and then the other has something going on.’”

While Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” lyrics sparked rumors that the track is about Wallen, the duo began commenting on each other’s social media photos and fueled the fire even more. Moreover, Wallen’s “Tennessee Fan” is rumored to be about Moroney, though he never confirmed that to be the case.

In an interview with SiriusXM’s The Highway in 2022, Moroney confirmed the Vols shirt she wore a promo photo for “Tennessee Orange” belonged to Wallen.
