Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Seven Festival Dates as Josh Homme Remains Under ‘Medical Care’

Written by on July 26, 2024

Queens of the Stone Age were forced to cancel another string of summer tour dates on Friday (July 26) due to singer Josh Homme’s unspecified medical treatment. After scotching eight European dates in June when the band announced that Homme had to immediately return to the U.S. for “emergency surgery,” the rockers announced the latest string of cancellations in a message to fans.

“Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States,” read the statement. “The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”

The new affected dates include a run of European festivals, including: Way out West in Sweden (August 8), Oya Festival in Norway (August 9), Syd For Solen in Denmark (August 10), Cabaret Vert in France (August 15), Lowlands in the Netherlands (August 16), Pukkelpop in Belgium (August 18) and Vilar de Mouros in Portugal (August 21).

At press time a spokesperson for QOTSA had not returned Billboard‘s request for an update on the Homme’s medical condition.

“Queens are gutted we aren’t able to play for you,” the group said in the statement last month in announcing the cancellation of the eight European tour dates. “We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment.” Prior to that, the group informed fans that they couldn’t perform at the preview of this year’s AMA Music Festival on July 5 in Italy “due to illness.”

The band’s End Is Nero tour is scheduled to return to the road in the U.S. in September, with their next slated gig booked for the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on the 27th.
