Travis Scott‘s Cactus Jack Foundation hosted an emergency Hurricane Beryl relief drive in Missouri City, TX on Tuesday (July 176) to aid the thousands of Texans who are still struggling in the wake of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Beryl last week.

According to a release announcing the effort undertaken in partnership with the Houston Food Bank, the foundation distributed water, ice food and other essential items to residents of Texas communities impacted by the storm that killed eight and caused severe flooding and widespread power outages affecting more than three million Texans.

The essential aid was handed out on a first-come, first-served basis via a drive-through system, with items distributed to more than 2,000 local families. In conjunction with the drive, the Cactus Jack Foundation also teamed with disaster response organization Houston Responds to launch an emergency hotel grant fund to set up temporary housing for displaced Houstonians who are still without power after the storm came ashore in Texas on July 8 as a category one hurricane.

The emergency aid distributed by Scott, along with his mother, brother and sister will help families find shelter at local hotels as temperatures continue to hover in the low 90s across the state. Applications for the housing vouchers are open now, with applicants encouraged to sign up here. The announcement notes that eligibility for the housing program is based on need and includes income limitation and proof of disaster-related displacement to make sure the most vulnerable residents receive aid as soon as possible.
