On July 6, Colombia’s national team scored a stunning 5-0 victory over Panama in the quarterfinals of the Conmebol Copa América 2024.
Now, the Colombian team will face Uruguay on July 10 at 8pm ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC for a berth in the final and a chance to win the men’s soccer championship title.
Over the course of this journey, and throughout the history of Colombian soccer, music has been a constant source of inspiration for both the team and their fans. Inspired by this great triumph, we present five emblematic songs to encourage the national team in the next stage.
Although there are countless songs dedicated to the Colombian tricolor over the years, some odes have remained with the Colombian team’s fans, becoming timeless hits to cheer every time they play a game.
The list includes the official anthem for the Copa América 2024: “El Ritmo Que Nos Une” by Ryan Castro with SOG and the Colombia national team. In fact, two of the players, striker Luis Diaz and midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, make their debut in the song by rapping some lines, something that has not been seen before. In addition, the entire team can be seen in the music video.
Other favorites include the so-called second Colombian anthem, the cumbia “Colombia Tierra Querida” by Lucho Bermudez, and the salsa choke “Ras Tas Tas,” which became popular during the 2014 World Cup and is now here to stay.
Here, we recommend five songs to celebrate Colombia’s national soccer team:
-
Cali Flow Latino, “Ras Tas Tas Full HD”
“Dice ras tas tas tas, tas tas tas/ Dice gol de Colombia” goes part of the lyrics of this contagious salsa choke, which became one of the national team’s signature songs during the 2014 Brazil World Cup, when the players celebrated their goals by dancing to the rhythm of the song.
-
Carlos Vives, “Mil Canciones”
“I sing for the life that gives me another dawn/ I sing for the people who go to the field/ I sing for my team that fills me with hope/ For the shirt that I wear in my soul,” sings Carlos Vives in Spanish from this 2014 soccer anthem. The superstar recently shared a video with the song on his social media in honor of the Colombian tricolor of the Copa America 2024.
-
Francisco Zumaqué, “Colombia Caribe”
“Sí, sí Colombia; sí, sí Caribe”, goes the lyrics of this national soccer team’s flagship song, written and performed by Francisco Zumaqué. The anthem was released in 1985 and has had several versions, one of the most popular being the version by Orquesta Guayacán, and the soccer take “Si si Colombia” by Zumaqué.
-
La Orquesta de Ray, “Colombia Tierra Querida”
This cumbia, written by Lucho Bermúdez and premiered in 1970, is considered a second national anthem that thrills all Colombians no matter where they are in the world. The song has several versions, including Juan Carlos Coronel’s (1994) and La Orquesta de Ray’s (1990), and is used as a celebratory theme both in homes and in the media when the national team scores a goal.
-
Ryan Castro, SOG y Selección Colombia, “El Ritmo Que Nos Une”
Colombia’s official song for the Copa América 2024 is sung by Ryan Castro (a.k.a. El Cantante del Ghetto), along with SOG and with the special participation of two of the national team’s players: Luis Diaz and Juan Fernando Quintero, who rap some verses. The music video for the infectious song shows the Colombian national team’s roster for this tournament living the soccer party.
