Marking the first single off of his forthcoming studio album, Ryan Castro surprised fans with his first-ever salsa tune named after his alterego, “El Cantante del Ghetto.” “Loves like yours can’t be bought, they can’t be compared, they can’t be known/ If I gave my all to make this relationship last/ Look me in the face and tell me you don’t know me,” the Colombian reggaetón star sings in what’s also a tribute to the late salsa icon Héctor Lavoe.

Another artist who also dropped a homage track was Nicky Jam, who reeled in Trueno for “Cangrinaje.” The Jorge Milliano-produced song tributes reggaetón’s vieja escuela beats and samples Nicky’s very own 2002 track “Mi Yal Eres Tú” in collaboration with DJ Playero. In the collaboration, the Argentine rapper brings a fresh and modern touch, effortless swapping between his melodious vocals and fiery rap verses.

Meanwhile, Colombian newcomers Tei Shi and Damian released new studio albums. The former with Valerie, a 13-track bilingual set that navigates her life experiences, and where she rediscovers her artistic and personal essence through R&B, indie and pop rhythms. The latter with El Tropical Feeling (Vallenato & Cumbia Edition), a 10-track set that the artist describes as a love letter to his native Colombia.

Last week, Danna Paola’s album CHILDSTAR won the weekly fan poll with over 53 percent of the votes. Who should win this week? Vote among other new releases from Greeicy, Brytiago, Rauw Alejandro, and many more, below:
