Shane Gillis Has Trouble With His ‘SNL’ Monologue in Hilarious New Promo
Written by djfrosty on February 21, 2024
Shane Gillis — a stand-up comic who was announced as a new Saturday Night Live castmember in 2019 before having his job revoked after podcast clips featuring ethnic slurs surfaced — is back to host the show this weekend (Feb. 24), and in a new promo, the comedian runs his monologue by current castmembers Sarah Sherman and Marcello Hernandez.
However, Gillis struggles with jokes in his monologue, resorting to cheesy one-liners like, “I heard the new Planet of the Apes is coming out. It’s going to be bananas.” Sherman and Hernandez, however, remain supportive nonetheless.
Gillis will be making his hosting debut in the upcoming episode, while 21 Savage will take the stage as the musical guest for the first time.
