Nicki Nicole Hints at Peso Pluma Breakup: ‘When … There Is No Respect, I Don’t Stay’

Written by on February 13, 2024

Nicki Nicole and Peso Pluma have appeared to call it quits. At least that’s what the Argentine rapper and singer hinted at with a blunt statement she shared on social media after also removing photos of her and the Mexican star from her Instagram account.

“Respect is a necessary part of love,” Nicole posted on an Instagram Story on Tuesday (Feb. 13). “What is loved, is respected. What is respected, is cared for. When you are not cared for and there is no respect, I don’t stay there. I leave. It is with great sorrow that I found out the same way you did, thank you for the love you are sending me.”

Her post comes just a day after a video of Peso appearing to hold hands with another woman in Las Vegas over Super Bowl weekend surfaced online. Nicki Nicole’s team decline to offer any additional statement beyond what she posted on social media. Billboard reached out to Peso’s team for comment, but did not hear back by press time.

In October, Nicole joined Peso Pluma on the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage to perform their 2023 collab “Por Las Noches.” The pair made their red carpet debut as a couple a month later at the Latin Grammys in Spain, where they spoke to Billboard about a potential new collaboration.

“We have been in the studio together, to be honest, and there’s a lot of chemistry there, too,” Nicki Nicole said a joint interview at the time with Peso. “When you mix the personal and musical sides, amazing things happen. We love each other on a personal level and we really do respect each other on a musical level, so there’s a unique chemistry in the studio. We work together because we enjoy it more so than doing it just to do a song.”

The two recently attended the 66th Grammy Awards on Feb. 4, where Peso won best música mexicana album (including tejano) for Génesis. A few days later, they were also spotted at a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
