Ayo Edebiri’s ‘SNL’ Pep Talk Doesn’t Go as Planned in New Promo

Ayo Edebiri is taking over the Saturday Night Live stage for the first time this weekend (Feb. 10) and she had to give the less-than-energetic cast a little inspiration in a hilarious new promo released on Wednesday (Jan. 31).
In the clip, SNL cast members Mikey Day, Ego Nwodim and Molly Kearney are feeling exhausted preparing for three episodes in a row, contemplating playing hooky and dropping out of the upcoming episode. Upon hearing the complaints, Edebiri attempts to cheer everyone up.
“What’s this I’m hearing? This show could be the greatest show of our lives, and you’re just gonna let that opportunity slip away?” the Golden Globe-winning The Bear actress tells the group, before listing off a slew of erroneous “facts,” including that 100 million people will be watching the episode, their show will be airing right after the Super Bowl and that her episode is going to be the first show that will be live on a Saturday night.
When the group is ready to give up, Edebiri becomes exasperated. “Fine! Ok? I just wanted to get you guys hyped because this is my first time hosting and JLo is also going to be the musical guest,” she said, as everyone’s ears pipe up at the thought of Jennifer Lopez taking the stage as the musical guest and hilariously, the energy suddenly goes back to normal.
Watch the full promo below, and catch both Edebiri and Lopez on Saturday Night Live this weekend on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.
