Billboard has reached out to Young’s representative for comment, as well as the Nashville Police Department.

According to local NBC affiliate WSMV and The Tennesean, who both obtained the arrest affidavit, Young, 38, was at downtown Nashville bar Tin Roof around 8:30 p.m. as Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents were making compliance checks. Agents checked Young’s identification, with the affidavit stating that the musician then began questioning them before following them next door to the Dawg House. The outlets report that according to the affidavit, Young put his hand out and attempted to stop the officers from leaving when they finished, struck one of the agents in the shoulder, and was yelling and screaming.

WSMV reported that, according the affidavit, two agents restrained the musician. Young was booked shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, and was released in the early morning hours of Tuesday, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Young has earned 11 No. 1 Billboard Country Airplay hits since his debut in 2006, including “I’m Comin’ Over,” “Voices” and “At the End of a Bar.”

Young is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming album, Young Love and Saturday Nights, due in March. The album’s title track interpolates a guitar riff from David Bowie’s “Rebel, Rebel.”
