A baby taking their first steps is always a monumental moment — even when that “baby” is a 6’5″ movie star and the steps in question are on the set of Saturday Night Live. In a new teaser released on Wednesday (Jan. 7), Jacob Elordi faces his fears and attempts to walk down the same SNL steps that past iconic hosts have graced.

“Okay, okay,” Elordi says as he steadies himself at the top of the stairs. “They all make it look so easy.” The promo then cuts from Elordi — nervously standing in a purple and green hoodie and khaki pants — to flashbacks of past hosts making grand entrances including Kim Kardashian, Zac Efron and Megan Thee Stallion. Two SNL cast members then attempt to help Elordi make his way down the stairs, but not before he hilariously slides, scoots and tumbles down the the comically small set of steps. Eventually, the Euphoria stars makes it down the stairs and onto the stage — where he trips and falls flat on his face. In typical SNL fashion, the cast members quickly scurry away to avoid being caught at the scene of the catastrophe.

Elordi is set to host the the Jan. 20 edition of Saturday Night Live, which will feature Reneé Rapp as the night’s musical guest. This marks Elordi’s first time hosting the variety show after a blockbuster year —in 2023, Elordi starred in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla as the late Elvis Presley, and in Emerald Fennell’s viral hit Saltburn. The latter film has made a significant impact in the music world; thanks to its placement in a NSFW scene featuring Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 2002 U.K. smash “Murder on the Dancefloor” has found new life in the States, reaching No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, 22 years after its original release.

Rapp will also be making her SNL debut in a similar moment of upward momentum. Last year, the Broadway star released her debut studio album, Snow Angel, which reached No. 44 on the Billboard 200 and spawned singles such as “Talk Too Much,” the title track and “Tummy Hurts.” Rapp kicked off her 2024 by reprising her role of Regina George in the Mean Girls movie musical which topped the box office and spawned a soundtrack featuring herself, Auli’i Cravalho and Megan Thee Stallion.
