Jelly Roll Meets Terminally Ill Fan, Grants Her ‘Dying Wish’

Written by on January 4, 2024

Jelly Roll has once again stolen our hearts with his acts of kindness.

The “Need a Favor” superstar granted one of his biggest fan’s wishes in Tennessee recently, meeting up with a grandmother named Sharon, who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. “She had an aneurysm which caused early on-set dementia,” her daughter Melissa told local station News Channel 5. “She also has renal failure, and she has chosen not to do dialysis. It’s a lot. It’s a lot for her.”

Sharon is a mega fan of Jelly Roll, having convinced Melissa and granddaughter Naveah to get matching bad apple tattoos with her in honor of the country star. Melissa has also driven her mother to the church Jelly Roll grew up attending, a location that is now featured on his 2023 Whitsitt Chapel album cover.

While at one of Jelly Roll’s toy drive, Melissa told a crew member about her mother. “I explained her situation and said her dying wish, her number one on her bucket list, was to meet Jelly Roll,” she said.

Ultimately, Sharon’s wish was granted, and the grandmother ended up meeting Jelly Roll backstage at one of his shows. “He made me feel like I was so special. He told me I only looked 50,” Sharon said. See the sweet photos here.

It’s been a big year for Jelly Roll’s skyrocketing career, as he notched two No. 1 Country Airplay hits, with “Son of a Sinner” and “Need a Favor.” He was also Billboard‘s cover star for its 2023 Country Power Players issue, and subsequently performed and spoke during Billboard‘s inaugural Billboard Country Live in Concert event in Nashville earlier this year. The star is nominated for two Grammy Awards for the upcoming 2024 ceremony, including best new artist and best country duo/group performance for the remix of “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson.
