On the latest Billboard Gospel Airplay chart, Todd Dulaney and Bishop Hezekiah Walker are reigning supreme as their single “It’s Working” rises from No. 3 to No. 1.
The song, which Dulaney co-penned with Tim Godfrey and Dontaniel Jamel Kimbrough, increased by 5% in plays during the Oct. 20-26 tracking week, according to Luminate.
For the 39-year-old Dulaney, a former professional baseball player in the New York Mets organization, “It’s Working” becomes his seventh Gospel Airplay leader — and his record-extending sixth in succession. He one-ups Jonathan McReynolds, who boasts an active streak of five No. 1s.
“It’s a complete honor to be at the top of the chart once again,” Dulaney tells Billboard. “I never could have imagined having a streak like this one. God continues to give me anthemic music that I pray touches the hearts and lives of listeners. The journey continues.”
“It’s Working” follows Dulaney’s “Satisfied,” featuring Smokie Norful, a one-week Gospel Airplay No. 1 in September 2022. Before that, Delaney reigned with “Revelation 4” (one week, September 2021); “Psalms 18 (I Will Call Your Name)” (one, October 2020); “You’re Doing It All Again,” featuring Nicole Harris (one, September 2019); and “Your Great Name” (eight weeks, beginning in March 2018).
Dulaney first led the list with “The Anthem” for six weeks beginning in April 2016. Between that song and his streak of six No. 1s, he previously reached No. 3 with “Victory Belongs to Jesus” in August 2017.
As for Walker, “It’s Working” is his fourth Gospel Airplay No. 1 and first since 2016, when “Better” dominated for 18 weeks starting that June. He previously topped the chart with “Every Praise” (27 weeks, beginning in August 2013) and “Souled Out,” with LFC (14 weeks, starting in March 2009). The 60-year-old from Brooklyn was made a bishop in the Church of the Apostolic Faith in 2008.
