Happy birthday, Cardi B! The rapper turned 31 years old on Wednesday (Oct. 11), and we’re celebrating by looking back at her slew of Hot 100 chart toppers.
She scored her fifth Hot 100 No. 1 following her performance of “Up” as part of a medley with Megan Thee Stallion at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards on March 14. Cardi extends her record for the most Hot 100 No. 1s among female rappers, and she is the first female rapper with two Hot 100 No. 1s (including her inaugural leader, “Bodak Yellow,” from 2017) with no accompanying artists.
At the time “Bodak Yellow” reached the summit in September 2017, Cardi was just the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 without any other billed artists, following Lauryn Hill‘s first solo Hot 100 entry (apart from the Fugees), “Doo Wop (That Thing).” She was also the fifth female rapper to ever top the all-genre tally.
When she and Meg took “WAP” to the top in August 2020, they drew in 93 million U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the most for any track ever in its first week of release.
When “I Like It” earned Bad Bunny and J Balvin their first Hot 100 No. 1s, the Latin trap song earned the New York native another “first” title: She became the first female rapper with two No. 1s following “Bodak Yellow.”
She and Maroon 5 made chart history together with “Girls Like You,” which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 starting in September 2018 and a whopping 40 weeks in the top 20 region of the all-genre tally.
With every song Cardi has sent to the top of the Hot 100 chart, she’s made history. So which of her hits that got up to No. 1 is still stuck in your head? Vote below!
