For the first time in over two years, a woman with no accompanying artists leads Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Lainey Wilson scores her third No. 1, as “Watermelon Moonshine” hits the summit on the chart dated Oct. 7. In the tracking week ending Sept. 28, the song advanced by 5% to 27.2 million audience impressions, according to Luminate.

Wilson is the second woman overall to lead the list in 2023. In February, Kane Brown and wife Katelyn Brown reigned with “Thank God.” The last woman with no co-billed artists at No. 1? Wilson, with her rookie entry “Things a Man Oughta Know,” for one week in September 2021. Between then and the chart’s new No. 1, two all-female duets led: Elle King and Miranda Lambert’s “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” and Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde’s “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” both in spring 2022.

Wilson co-authored “Moonshine” with Josh Kear and Jordan Schmidt, and Jay Joyce produced the track. The song is the sophomore single from Bell Bottom Country, which became her first top 10 on Top Country Albums, reaching No. 9 in January.

The LP’s lead single, “Heart Like a Truck,” hit No. 2 on Country Airplay in April, the same month that HARDY’s “Wait in the Truck,” on which Wilson is featured, also reached the runner-up spot. Wilson boasts five top 10s, having also led with her Cole Swindell team-up “Never Say Never,” for two frames in April 2022.

Wallen’s Top 10 Double

Morgan Wallen adds his 11th and 12th Country Airplay top 10s as “Thinkin’ Bout Me” hops 11-7 (23.3 million, up 23%) and “Everything I Love” rises 12-10 (18.1 million, up 3%). They follow his crossover smash “Last Night,” which began an eight-week command in May. All three songs are from his album One Thing at a Time, which has now generated six total top 10s.

All airplay charts dated Oct. 7 will update on Billboard.com Tuesday, Oct. 3.
